Label France Education

Awarded by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs through its Agency for French Education Abroad, the Label FrancEducation is an official international accreditation granted to schools offering a French bilingual program.

To date, 9 American schools have been recognized (out of a total of 17 worldwide): 2 schools in New York City and 7 schools in Utah. The French Ministry of Education plans to accredit 20 more schools in 2012, 50 in 2013 and 100 by 2015. A second round of applications is under way. Schools in New Zealand, Czech Republic, and Finland also received this Label.

To apply for accreditation, schools must meet a set of rigorous criteria: A minimum of 33% of subjects must be taught in French; teachers must be highly qualified, certified, and fluent in French; the school must have a strong professional development plan and a commitment to quality education; it must participate in official language tests; and it must provide an environment that inspires an interest in French culture.
