Every July since 2006, FHLP has also offered intensive summer programs featuring cultural, artistic, and physical education activities, all in French. The programs are open to any Francophone K-12 students in New York and, since 2009, in Miami. Each of the New York and the Miami summer camps are offered at free or very low costs to meet our populations’ financial capacities. The 2012 NY summer camp edition allowed 20 students from the Bronx, Queens and Brooklyn to attend the Forum Mondial de la Langue Française in Quebec and was officially sponsored by the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie (OIF).
In 2010, the French Heritage Language Program was selected by the ambassadors of 30 Francophone countries to receive the Prix spécial de la Francophonie from the hands of the Ambassador of Haiti to the United States. This award annually honors the work of programs or organizations that seek to promote the values of solidarity, dialogue and cultural diversity upheld by the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie (OIF).
