Renefer and Butler, Two Artists in the Great War

In the context of the centennial of World War I, the Cultural Services at the Consulate General of France in Chicago, with the support of DePaul University, First Division Museum – Cantigny Park, and the Renefer Association, offers to French professors in the Midwest a series of teaching tools. These teaching tools are focused on the works of Renefer and Alban Butler, a French and an American soldier, respectively, who both fought in World War I in France and published illustrated works of their wartime experience in simple yet moving images and words. Students may compare and contrast the work of both artists as an exercise in language and cross-cultural understanding.

100 Years Later - France and America Commemorate the Great War: Poetry in Translation

The students of the French Department of DePaul University have translated a series of poems written by soldiers active during the Great War and more recent wars.

Poetry and War

In the context of the centennial of World War I, the Cultural Services at the Consulate General of France in Chicago, with the support of DePaul University, offers to French professors in the Midwest a series of teaching tools on poetry during the War. A selection of poems by Guillaume Apollinaire, Romain Darchy, Jean Farré, and Henry Jacques are presented as subjects of teaching tools, which are adapted to fit student of various high school French levels.

Dans le cadre de la Fête de l’Europe 2013, des middle et high schools d’Atlanta ont reçu David Kibler, secrétaire des Affaires étrangères et attaché culturel du Consulat général de France à Atlanta qui a fait une tournée de présentations en français sur l’Union européenne, son histoire, sa géographie, etc. conçues spécifiquement pour des élèves de 12 à 18 ans avec un support visuel en anglais.
