OVERVIEW

For several years now, the French Embassy has offered "Summer Universities" for teachers, in collaboration with universities, teachers' associations, Alliances Françaises, local school districts and educational authorities. These summer sessions last a minimum of 3 days with at least 5 hours of training per day, in different parts of the United States. Teachers get the chance to have a true immersion experience in French. This program also offers the possibility of obtaining professional credits for continuing education through local educational authorities.

Training fees are covered by the Educational Cooperation Services of the French Embassy! Meals, parking, housing costs (when necessary) are the responsibility of the participants.

Launched in 2010 in Chicago in collaboration with the Alliance Française, this model for intensive training has been adapted to regional contexts.  Five "summer universities" were organized in 2015.
